Is datacentre in the nuclear bunker is the most secured place?

In one of the previous posts, we postulated that 100% security does not exist. Security is always a compromise with availability, time-to-market, budget and so on. Let's have a look at a facility, where advertisement tells us that security was implemented without any compromises.

The place is called Pionen bunker. It is located in Sweeden near Stockholm. The data centre is located in a former civil defence centre built in the White Mountains and was designed to protect essential government functions. The data centre is capable of withstanding a thermonuclear bomb.

Apparently, it has incredible physical security protection from a natural disaster. Other physical security aspects (access management, CCTV, guards) remains on the same level as in any another datacenter.

The facility has 3 independent internet links. That is good for availability - one goes down, two remains, but not for security. Logically data stored inside is accessible from the outside world, and datacenter does not provide any security here. Everything is on admin and developer shoulders.

This place has a good potential of being the most secured one if all connections would be cut and entrance 40cm thick steel door would be sealed. But who needs data that cannot be accessed. Security is always a compromise.
